the intention

Most human life is lived beneath the line of courage — in fear, in grief, in craving, in pride.

We exist to help as many people as possible rise.

Not by preaching. Not by persuading. By quietly meeting the needs that hold a life down — so that what is higher can surface on its own.

business to society

A society is not a thing standing above its people. It is the people — each one a block the whole is built from.

So we do not build for a market. We build for the human being, and let the society rise with them.

Others are business to consumer, or business to business. We are business to society: the work is the single person, the aim is everything they belong to. Make one human freer, less afraid, more truly themselves, and you have made society itself a little better — quietly, without ever naming it. There is no shorter road. No society stands higher than the people who hold it up.

the direction

David Hawkins gave his life to mapping these states — shame and fear near the floor, courage at two hundred, love at five hundred, and a wide stillness above it. We hold his map lightly: a direction, not a doctrine — proof enough that a life is never fixed, that it can move.

The work of a lifetime, for one person.
The work of this company, for as many as we can reach.

the way

No one rises while their needs go unmet.

Maslow saw it plainly: a frightened body cannot love freely, a lonely child cannot flower, an exhausted helper cannot hold anyone. So we build for the needs, in order —

safety of the body belonging and love dignity and esteem becoming what one is and then — giving oneself away

the guiding light

In 1981, in Madras, Krishnamurti saw this moment coming — and named it.

“That brain is now being given over to the computer. The computer is becoming your brain … Society is going to be turned upside down. It is coming, whether you like it or not; it is at your door.”
“If the computer can do everything that you can — it can learn, correct itself, foresee much more than human beings can — then what is man?”
“The computer and the robot are going to take over. Then what is man going to do?”

J. Krishnamurti · Talk in Madras · 1981

Forty-five years ago, an hour's drive from where this company now sits, he told an audience what was coming — and what would remain when it arrived. Two paths only, he said: endless entertainment, or deep inquiry into oneself. Everything we build is built for the second path.

We exist to enable exactly that — to help as many human beings as possible become a light to themselves.

Not followers of a product, not dependents of a machine. When the machines take over the doing, what remains to a human being is the being. Our work is to meet the needs that keep people from turning inward — so that, freed, they can.
